I know, you’re busy right? And social media ends up being more stress added to your day …
But it doesn’t have to be.
It’s hard creating a new habit but once you do manage it you’ll find updating your social media status’s and even making time for a little chat every now and again isn’t do hard – it might even become a highlight of your day!
The first step to making this happen is emotional. You have to overcome any doubts or fears surrounding it. Honestly it can be a bit scary trying to talk to strangers, that’s not your fault, that apprehension is hard-wired into you. But one very important advantage of getting to know your customers online is that they can’t physically attack you!
The next step is mental, you have to figure out what to say. This can be really difficult but it isn’t impossible. Take the plunge, even if you feel like you are talking rubbish just say something, you’ll get better with practice . If you grab a copy of my book there’s a tonne of advice on this in there.
The third step is physical. You need to build it into a habit. I recommend popping onto your social media sites 3 times a day for 5 minutes at a time. Schedule an alarm to go off on your phone to remind you to do it. Go on once in the morning, once at lunchtime and once late afternoon or evening. Set another alarm to remind you to log off again too!
It may also be worth using some scheduling tools to make sure you post regularly even if you can’t always get online.
So your mission today, should you choose to accept it, is to dance this little 3-step and let me know how you got on!
